Sir David Behan, CEO of the Care Quality Commission for England made a special visit following an invitation to Carleton Court Residential care home in Pontefract on Friday 21 July. He met with the Directors Rachel Weston and David Weston to discuss their recent inspection by the CQC and the subsequent "Good" rating. Sir David wanted to gain an understanding of what systems had been implemented to achieve this improvement. Rod (registered manager) said "David was interested in our achievements and the processes and improvements we have made, he was also keen to understand our views and experience of the CQC inspection process". David commented “I was very pleased to learn of the progress and improvement made at Carleton Court. The team have worked hard to deliver good care.”

Former advisor to Barack Obama, Professor Donald Berwick visited Carleton Court Care Home in Pontefract, where he met health and social care bosses and took part in a question and answer session .
He was told about Connecting Care, a group of organisations set up to improve the health of the district’s population, reduce hospital admissions and tackle long-term conditions.
Prof Berwick visited Carleton Court to find out how Connecting Care is working with people in residential homes.
He said: “The passion that these people feel for that mission is truly extraordinary and they are getting results. Today we have seen some results in reduction of A&E use, reduction of hospital bed day use.
“They prove that compassionate, team- based, patient centred care in the care home setting can enrich lives and preserve health.”

The event included presentations from Age UK Wakefield District, South West Yorkshire Partnership Foundation Trust, Wakefield District Housing and St George’s Community Centre in Lupset.
Dr Phil Earnshaw, chairman of NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “The visit was a huge success and showcased the work we are undertaking.
“We are immensely proud of the journey we have been on, but this is just the start.

Two of our resident recived thier Birthday card from King Charles this year
We commissioned a fantastic mural to be painted by local artist Rachel List to commemerate this .
The Mural contains amongst other things two balloons with "100" woven into the string and the residents initials .A party was attended by lots of family and friends and a great day was had by all .The mural also contained a butterfly with a residents initials who donated some money for the residents to enjoy
